POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Safety Manager at Greython plays a pivotal role in ensuring the health and safety of all personnel across diverse project sites in the United States and abroad. They are responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive safety programs that align with local, state, federal, and international regulations. The leadership of the Safety Manager will help foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
In this position, the Safety Manager will oversee site-specific safety plans, conduct regular audits, and collaborate with project managers, subcontractors, and field teams to proactively identify and mitigate risks. The role can require travel to active jobsites, where they will lead training sessions, perform inspections, and ensure compliance with Company standards. The Safety Manager will also manage incident investigations, maintain accurate safety records, and report findings to senior leadership for strategic planning.
Success in this role demands strong communication skills, a deep understanding of construction safety practices, and the ability to adapt to varying regulatory environments. They must be comfortable working in fast-paced, high-risk settings, and capable of influencing teams across cultures and disciplines. As a key member of the operations team, the Safety Manager will help safeguard the Greython workforce and support the successful delivery of complex infrastructure projects.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Design and enforce comprehensive safety policies tailored to diverse project environments and regulatory requirements

Perform regular audits and walkthroughs to identify hazards, ensure compliance, and recommend corrective actions

Organize and deliver training sessions on OSHA standards, emergency procedures, PPE usage, and site-specific protocols

Stay current with local, state, federal, and international safety laws and ensure all operations meet or exceed those standards

Lead through investigations of workplace incidents, determine root causes, and implement preventative measures

Keep detailed documentation of inspections, incidents, training and compliance for internal use and regulatory review

Work closely with project managers, engineers, superintendents to integrate safety into all phases of the construction process, including office teams

Supervise safety officers or coordinators across multiple sites, ensuring consistency and accountability in safety practices

Foster a proactive safety mindset through leadership, communication, and recognition of safe behaviors

Coordinate emergency response efforts, including evacuation plans, first aid, and communication with emergency services

Assess and recommend appropriate PPE, safety tools, and technology to enhance a worker protection and efficiency
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Construction Management or a related field

First aid/CPR certification
-
Professional certifications such as; Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational excellence (CMQ/OE)

5-10 years of progressive experience in health, safety, environmental, and quality roles, preferably within the construction or heavy civil engineering industry

3-5 years in a leadership role, managing safety teams

Proven experience developing and implementing best safety practices and leading audits and regulatory inspections

Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, ISO standards, and other relevant regulatory frameworks

OSHA Certifications; OSHA-10, OSHA-30, HAZWOPER Certification, OSHA Trainer Authorization

Small issue spotting before major issues arise

Ability to adjust safety plans to fit different environments, regulations, and project types
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to bend/lift/kneel/climb frequently

Push or pull objects greater than 50 pounds (objects, equipment, etc…)

Tolerate outdoor conditions, including varying weather, noise, general air conditions

Ability to work different shifts depending on the needs of the business

Potential to travel locally, nationally, and internationally as jobs require

Ability to be present at jobsite, vendor locations, offices, potential multiple locations in the same day

Walking and standing for extended periods of time

Long periods of time in front of a computer screen, typing, or being present/hosting meetings over the phone or conference call
IT REQUIREMENTS:

General knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office technology

Proficiency in software like SAGE or Procore, or similar construction management applications

Communication platforms such as Microsoft Teams or a similar platform

Experience with cloud storage solutions such as Dropbox

Familiarity with safety management systems to track incidents and compliance

General ability to properly use a cellular phone/iPad or tablet/laptop for work
