POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Project Engineer at Greython plays a key role in supporting the successful execution of construction projects by coordinating technical activities and ensuring compliance with design specifications. They assist in planning, scheduling, and managing resources to meet project milestones and quality standards. This role requires close collaboration with project managers, architects, subcontractors, and field teams to resolve technical issues and maintain workflow efficiency.

The Project Engineer is responsible for reviewing drawings, specifications, and submittals to ensure alignment with project requirements. They help manage RFIs, change orders, and document control processes, ensuring timely communication and accurate records. The position also involves conducting site inspections, monitoring progress, and supporting safety and quality assurance efforts throughout the construction phase.

Reporting to the Project Manager or Construction Manager, the Project Engineer may supervise Assistant PMs or Project Coordinators depending on the project size and complexity. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in construction software are essential for success. The Project Engineer serves as a vital link between design and execution, helping to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to the highest standards that Greython requires.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review project plans/specs for technical accuracy and design compliance

  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, and subcontractors to resolve issues

  • Manage and track RFIs with timely responses to field inquiries

  • Assist in creating and maintaining project schedules, identify delays, recommend solutions

  • Support procurement activities (reviewing material submittals, ensuring timely delivery)

  • Conduct site visits and inspections to ensure quality and progress

  • Maintain accurate documentation (drawings, COs, minutes, daily reports)

  • Assist in budget and cost control, track expenditures, identify variances

  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies

  • Attend project meetings and provide technical updates

  • Support project closeout (punch lists, final inspections, turnover documentation)

  • Mentor junior engineers and interns

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related

  • Preferred: PMP, CAPM, LEED Accreditation

  • 5–8 years of experience in construction project or field engineering

  • Track record of supporting large-scale commercial, industrial, or infrastructure projects

  • Hands-on experience with project scheduling, RFIs, submittals, and change orders

KNOWLEDGE | SKILLS | ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Cross-functional collaboration with architects, subs, and field teams

  • Knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, and codes

  • Document management and problem-solving expertise

  • Familiarity with project closeout and turnover docs

  • Ability to handle multiple deadlines across project phases

  • Clear technical writing for reports, RFIs, submittals, and internal/external use

  • Conflict resolution and mediation with vendors, subcontractors, and teams

  • Flexibility under changing project/site conditions while maintaining budget and productivity

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to bend, kneel, lift, and climb in office and jobsite settings

  • Lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs

  • Move materials between locations

  • Use of PPE as required

  • Weekend availability may be required

  • Travel may be needed

  • Long hours at a computer typing

IT REQUIREMENTS:

  • Microsoft Office proficiency

  • Experience with SAGE or similar ERP software

  • Procore knowledge is a plus

  • Shared drive platforms like Dropbox

  • Estimating tools (Bluebeam or similar)

  • Ability to use a smartphone, laptop, iPad/tablet for work
