POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Estimator plays a critical role in the preconstruction phase by preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for construction projects. They analyze project plans, specifications, and documentation to develop detailed quantity takeoffs and pricing. Collaborating with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers, the Estimator collects and evaluates data to forecast project costs.
At Greython, the Estimator works with the Preconstruction and Project Management teams to align budget, scope, and schedule. They identify cost-saving opportunities, assess risks, and contribute to competitive bidding and profitability. Estimators also join bid reviews and help shape pricing strategy and value engineering.
Reporting to Project Managers and Executive team members, Estimators support Greython’s growth by helping secure new projects and maintaining client relationships. They stay informed about market trends, labor rates, and material costs. Estimators also refine cost databases and historical pricing records. Their insights influence the company’s ability to win and deliver profitable projects.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Review plans/specs to determine project scope and labor/material needs

Prepare detailed cost estimates including quantity takeoffs, labor, materials, and equipment

Solicit and evaluate subcontractor/supplier quotes

Collaborate with PMs, engineers, and architects to clarify scope and resolve discrepancies

Maintain historical cost databases

Join bid strategy meetings and contribute to pricing decisions and value engineering

Analyze risks and ensure realistic cost assumptions and contingencies

Submit bid proposals on time and per client requirements

Monitor trends and pricing fluctuations in labor, materials, and equipment

Support contract negotiations and provide estimate breakdowns
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field
-
Professional development (e.g., Microsoft Project or timeline software) preferred
-
Certifications such as PSP or PMI-SP are a plus
-
8–10 years of estimating experience, preferably in large-scale commercial/industrial projects

Experience in quantity takeoffs, bid preparation, and cost analysis
KNOWLEDGE | SKILLS | ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Strong understanding of construction methods, systems, and materials

Proficient in reading blueprints, specs, and technical drawings

Skilled with estimating tools (Bluebeam, PlanSwift, BidMail, etc.)

Current knowledge of labor/material/equipment pricing

Ability to prepare accurate takeoffs and cost breakdowns

Analytical and mathematical skills for cost analysis

Strong communicator and team collaborator

Able to manage multiple estimates and meet tight deadlines
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

IT REQUIREMENTS:
